WINDOWS FOR STUDENT
09/11/2006

Three student accommodation blocks in Leeds and Sheffield feature Spectus's
Sightline 70 tilt and turn frames. All windows are finished in grey and feature
a special foil finish developed in Germany.

The windows
were fabricated
and installed by
EYG Commercial
Glazing Solutions
from Hull, who
proposed PVC-u
frames as part of a
'value-engineering'
exercise for the
main contractor,
Ocon
Construction Ltd.

Spectus's
Sightline 70 has
slim, angular
sightlines which
complement the
overall design of

Student accommodation in Leeds featuring Spectus' Sightline 70 windows
the accommodation blocks.
They also satisfy the planners' aesthetic demands, as the original planning consent
called for powder coated aluminium windows. The tilt and turn windows feature a
dual opening action for excellent ventilation and ease of access. The lockable
'tilt before turn' mechanism allows the management team to open the windows
for cleaning, whilst the students are only able to open the 'tilt' mode for ventilation.

Working with quality products
such as Spectus's Sightline
is key to ensuring that these

When complete, the project
will be one of the largest
student housing project
undertaken in the UK,
and feature 5,500 windows.
