Spectus Check-in at the Willowsmere
16/02/2006

VS windows from Spectus have been installed at the Willowsmere Hotel in Cumbria
respecting the stunning setting & conservation issues. The Spectus VS successfully
maintains the traditional style of the building, whilst providing high quality modern
performance and ease of maintenance.

Designed to look and work like an original vertical sliding sash, Spectus' VS window
is an increasingly popular choice for specifiers refurbishing traditional buildings.
VS enables local authorities and specifiers to provide a suitable window with looks
as close to the original as possible yet meeting all current building standards.

Built in the 1850s, the Willowsmere is an imposing and
impressive stone building. Situated at the heart of the
Lake District, the hotel benefits from spectacular views
looking out to both Windermere town centre and the
shores of Lake Windermere. A total of 42 windows
were replaced at the hotel.

Fabricated and installed by Sash Windows UK Ltd,
the Spectus VS is a low maintenance window option
with increased weather resistance. The vertical sliding
window benefits from the thermal efficiency of modern
PVC windows whilst maintaining the traditional
appearance. The VS also offers equal sight lines
of glass and flush gasket detail.

Jason Lee of Sash Windows UK Ltd comments:
"Spectus' VS profile is the natural choice for buildings
such as the Willowsmere Hotel. Not only does it look
and function like an original sash window, but we can
add to the standard design with period window furniture
and fittings as appropriate to the site."

Spectus Systems introduced the VS five years ago,
and it is one of a range of products manufactured in the
company's Macclesfield extrusion plant. As with any
other system, Spectus keeps the design constantly
under review to ensure it meets the needs of an
ever more exacting customer base.
