The building, which is being converted
into flats, was required to have vertical
slider windows by local planning
authorities in order to keep the
character of the building.
The Spectus VS, with its authentic
period details and traditional opening
mechanism was accepted as a
suitable design, combining the high
thermal performance of a modern
PVC window with the required
traditional appearance.

Bournemouth Glass and Glazing was
the installation company contracted to
complete the work while the windows
themselves were fabricated by Coastal.
Both companies are enthusiastic about
the Spectus design with John Oakley
of BGG observing that: "In a town like
Bournemouth where many of the
buildings are Victorian the VS design
is proving a real success.

The VS was introduced by Spectus Systems five years ago and fabricators such
as Coastal enhance the standard design even further with the addition of period
window furniture and fittings. The VS is just one of a range of successful products
manufactured by Spectus in its Macclesfield extrusion plant.
As with any other system, Spectus keeps the design constantly under review
to ensure it meets the needs of an ever more exacting customer base.
