Full Marks for Spectus at Salford University
06/06/2006

Fully reversible SightLine 70 windows from Spectus have transformed
Faraday House at the University of Salford. By investing £130 million, the University
of Salford is improving buildings and facilities over the next five years. To start the
process the University required replacement windows that boosted security levels
as well as being easy to maintain. Spectus' fully reversible SightLine 70 met
those requirements whilst also providing an aesthetically pleasing window.

Situated 1.5 miles form
Manchester City Centre;
the University of Salford
has a student population
of over 18,000 and a staff
involvement of over 2,500.

The University strives to
link programmes closely
to industry and is at the
leading edge of research
innovation in many fields
including magnetics, optics & building design.

Fabricated and installed by Highseal Windows Ltd, the fully reversible SightLine 70
protrudes entirely to the exterior when opened. This feature allows interior
decorations, such as curtains and blinds, to remain unaffected. It also allows
the windows to be cleaned safely form the inside in accordance with the
recommendation of BS 8213. This makes the windows particularly suitable
where access from the outside is restricted or difficult. And because they are
made of PVC-U, Spectus SightLine 70 windows are thermally efficient and
offer high performance in all weather conditions.

Highseal Windows Ltd manufactures PVC-U windows, doors, patios
and conservatories to exacting standards. The manufacturer was required
to work closely with University personnel during the contract period to ensure
the project was delivered on time and on budget.

David Maybank of Highseal Windows Ltd comments, "The fully reversible
SightLine 70 met all of the maintenance and security requirements at the
University and was a great choice to kick off the 5 year regeneration plan."
