Window Energy Ratings
The government has made a strategic decision to reduce carbon emissions in buildings, as part of its target to reduce CO2 emissions in general, and to help moderate the climatic changes brought about by global warming and this is a key driver for architects and specifiers to ensure the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes are met. Spectus Window Systems 5 chamber design significantly improves the thermal performance of the windows, reducing heat loss through the frames. When used with performance glass units the design maximises the role of the glass and takes advantage of the contribution made by heat retention and solar gain. Spectus windows are 'A' rated right across the full range - the highest available for thermal efficiency.
Code for Sustainable Homes
Spectus Window Systems 5 chamber design and 3mm wall thickness means that thermal U-values of 1.2 W/m2K are achievable to meet Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 and when utilising triple glazing Spectus can achieve U-values as low as 0.8 W/m2K producing super insulating high performance windows that meet the requirements of level 6 of the Code for Sustainable homes in a traditional opening-out casement window.
Spectus is good for the environment
The BRE (British Research Establishment) has given PVC-u an A rating for domestic and an A+ rating for commercial properties, in its Green Guide to Specification. The BRE estimates that PVC-u can be recycled up to seven times and has an expected service life of 35 years, as defined by the BRE life span assessment. It means you can specify PVC-u components for your homes with confidence, secure in the knowledge that they fulfil the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Spectus is fully committed to the environmental standard ISO 14001 covering all environmental issues and is confined to the UK market minimising transportation and fuel consumption from wider exportation.
Continuing Spectus' commitment to environmental sustainability the Spectus Former is made from 100% recycled material. With BBA approval and meeting the Accredited Construction Details using the Spectus Former ensures windows are fitted accurately and efficiently with improved air tightness and insulation.
