House of Anderson has used the Spectus
system (currently Elite 70) since
branching out into manufacturing in 1987.
Chief Executive Paul Lusted, who's
worked for the company for 26 years,
says: "We found it difficult to get the quality
of profile we needed, but the Spectus
system had the best specification then,
and it still has now. It's more robust than
other systems. Only once since we started
fabricating the Spectus profile have we
had a problem. A couple of weeks ago a
customer reported that one of the sealed
units had failed - from windows fitted
"Over the years we've been through two
or three horrendous recessions and turn
downs in the market. But we've only
stopped trading twice - during the two
World Wars! What's kept us afloat is using
the best materials and sticking to our
guarantees. We now have a huge loyal
customer base to turn to, and get six or
seven 'thank you' letters a week.
Most of our work is repeat business,
despite operating only in the LA postcode
area. We have no problems with saturation
in the market. There are thousands of
badly designed and badly installed
windows that can be replaced."

House of Anderson has always offered building, plumbing and glazing
services
with its own installers. Windows and conservatories make 80% of
its business.
Paul continues: "In the year to date we're 6% up on last
year, and although the credit
crunch may make sales more difficult, we're confident we can grow
in 2008 too.
As hardy Northerners we're used to turning round business in tough
times!
"We've always appreciated Spectus's support: the team is
approachable
and reliable, and we get through to the decision-makers when we
need to.
The whisky helps, too! We're hoping for a crate on our 30th anniversary
"
